YouTube TV Revamps: Multiview Expands, App Redesign Coming
## YouTube TV Expands Multiview, Revamps App Interface for Enhanced User Experience

YouTube TV is celebrating YouTube's 20th anniversary with significant upgrades to its service. In the coming weeks, the platform will introduce a customizable multiview feature, expanding beyond its initial sports-focused rollout. This allows users to select from a growing list of channels – starting with a "small group of popular channels" and expanding in the coming months – to create their own personalized multi-screen viewing experience. While the initial release will not include all channels, YouTube aims to expand the feature to encompass a broader range of content genres.

The current multiview option, popular among sports fans for watching multiple games simultaneously, will now offer greater flexibility and control. This enhancement comes after the successful integration of NFL Sunday Ticket, though it remains unclear whether the NFL package will be immediately included in this customizable multiview option.

Complementing the multiview expansion is a complete redesign of the YouTube TV app for televisions. Scheduled for this summer, the refresh promises improved navigation, enhanced playback capabilities, refined quality settings, and more streamlined access to comments, channel information, and subscription management. The redesign aims to create a more intuitive and user-friendly experience, potentially mirroring the design aesthetics of platforms like Netflix, reflecting the growing popularity of YouTube TV usage on televisions over mobile devices.

Further enhancements include the rollout of 4x playback speed for YouTube Premium subscribers on iOS and Android devices, a feature initially tested in January. These changes come as YouTube TV continues its strong growth, exceeding 8 million subscribers and aiming for the top spot in the pay-TV sector. The company’s recent successful negotiation with Paramount ensured uninterrupted access to channels like CBS, CBS Sports, and Nickelodeon, showcasing its commitment to providing comprehensive channel offerings.
