Harry Potter Actor Nick Moran Undergoes Emergency Spinal Surgery

Actor Nick Moran, known for his role as Scabior in the Harry Potter films, has undergone emergency spinal surgery and is now recovering at home. The news, initially shared by Moran's friend Terry Stone on April 11th, 2025, revealed a "life-threatening" condition that necessitated urgent medical intervention.
Stone reported that Moran had initially dismissed neck pain, but his girlfriend urged him to seek medical attention. Doctors subsequently determined the need for immediate surgery, describing the condition as life-threatening. Initial reports from Stone suggested the possibility of permanent loss of speech and mobility. However, a subsequent update stated Moran is now speaking and walking, albeit with assistance, describing his movement as "shuffling around like a 100-year-old." He is currently wearing a neck brace.
The surgery involved removing four bones from Moran's neck and replacing them with artificial bone. The procedure, described as microsurgery due to the intricate network of nerves in the neck and spine, carried significant risks of permanent paralysis and speech impairment.
Moran's representative confirmed the surgery, stating it was completed over a week ago and that he is recovering well at home following a short hospital stay. The representative expressed gratitude for the well-wishes Moran has received.
Stone, who hosts the podcast "Criminal Connections," on which Moran recently appeared, provided updates through social media and interviews, initially sharing a photograph of Moran in intensive care giving a thumbs-up. He emphasized the continued need for support and prayers for Moran's full recovery. A podcast episode featuring Moran will be released on April 13th, 2025.
Beyond his Harry Potter role, Moran boasts a diverse career. He appeared in Guy Ritchie's "Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels," and starred in films including "Buddy's Song" (his screen debut), "The Musketeer," "Nemesis," "Boogie Man," and "New Blood." He is also a singer and playwright, having directed a film adaptation of his play "Telstar."
